Habayit Hayehudi leader Daniel Herschkowitz met at his Jerusalem office on Wednesday with his challenger, former Council of Jewish Communities in Judea and Samaria director-general Naftali Bennett.
Each one tried unsuccessfully to persuade the other not to run in the September 4 leadership race. "By joining forces, we could guarantee that we will freshen the ranks of the party and offer a new alternative," Herschkowitz said. Both sides described the meeting as cordial, noting that Herschkowitz, who is a rabbi, officiated at Bennett's wedding.
