House fire destroys Jerusalem family's home

A family in the Romema neighborhood of Jerusalem was left homeless after their apartment was destroyed by a fire in the early hours of Thursday morning. According to initial firefighter investigations, the fire started in the bedroom of a top floor apartment on the corner of HaTurim and Rashi streets.
Though the firefighters used mechanical means to disperse the copious amounts of smoke, the smoke caused serious damage to the apartment and it was rendered uninhabitable after part of the ceiling collapsed. Social services came to deal with the family and firefighters are opening an investigation into the cause of the fire.
