Israeli Air Force Commander Maj.-Gen. Ido Nehushtan suspended training flights on Friday following an accident Thursday night during a landing in the Ramat David Air Force Base in the North.
On Thursday night, an F-16 A/B fighter jet, which was landing at Ramat David, struck the top of a tree. The pilot felt the hit, climbed, turned around and performed a second landing. The plane sustained minor damages and the IAF said it will be repaired and return to operations.Following the accident, Nehushtan decided to cancel all training flights in the IAF on Friday and Sunday. Over the next few days, the IAF will hold discussions and seminars to discuss safety issues with pilots.
