IDF considers opening route to northern Jericho

The IDF's Central Command has considered allowing traffic through the route that leads to the entrance of northern Jericho, Israel Radio reported.
The route branches from the Jordan Valley and has been closed for more than a decade due to security reasons.
Officials have considered transferring security control of the route to Palestinian security forces.
Head of the Jordan Valley council David Alhiyani told Israel Radio that since the road has been closed, the security circumstances have remained unchanged and it is not the time to make gestures to the Palestinians.
In recent months, the Central Command has allowed traffic on several routes in Judea and Samaria.
