IDF soldier attacked, lightly hurt, gun stolen in North

An IDF soldier was set upon by two unidentified assailants who struckhim with blunt object and made off with his firearm on Thursday nightnear Kiryat Shmona.

The soldier was evacuated to the Ziv Medical Center in Safed in lightcondition.

Police said the attackers fled the scene in a vehicle. A large policesearch, involving roadblocks, patrol units, and a police helicopterwas launched soon after the attack.

On Wednesday, officers from the Galilee district branch of the specialYamar investigative unit arrested eight people, including twosoldiers, suspected of stealing firearms from an IDF base nearIsrael’s northern border. The firearms include a MAG machine gun.
