Iran reaffirms 'unbreakable' alliance with Syria

BEIRUT - Iran assured Syrian President Bashar Assad on Tuesday that was a vital partner in its regional anti-Israeli alliance, a bond that would not be broken by a rebellion it said was backed by the two countries' common enemies.
"Iran will not allow the axis of resistance, of which it considers Syria to be an essential part, to be broken in any way," Syrian state television quoted Saeed Jalili, head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, as telling Assad.
