Iran releases three Belg

Iran on Wednesday released three Belgians held for two months for illegally entering a restricted area and gathering intelligence, State TV reported. The television station said that the three were handed over on Tuesday to the Belgian ambassador in Teheran. The report gave no details about when or where they were arrested, though it identified the three as Van den Bosch, Vincent Binfleur, and Diego Gomatio. Teheran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi was quoted as saying they were detained for "entering a prohibited area and gathering intelligence." The arrests had not been made public earlier. The Belgian Foreign Ministry declined to comment on the case late Tuesday, when Belgian media first reported the release, citing Iranian sources.
