Irish Nobel winner boards flight out of Israel

Irish Nobel prize winner Mairead Corrigan Maguire Israel boarded a flight from Israel to the UK on Tuesday morning, the Interior Ministry said.

She was banned from Israel after taking part in a blockade-busting attempt in June. Still, she landed in Tel Aviv last week, hoping to join a delegation meeting Israeli and Palestinian peace activists.

She was promptly detained and held at an airport detention facility. The Supreme Court upheld her deportation order late Monday.
