IRNA: Official says cyber attack on oil ministry foiled

An Iranian Oil Ministry official said Tuesday that Iran had foiled cyber attacks on the country’s oil industry, adding that all production and export units of his ministry are currently operating, according to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA).    The Head of the Oil Ministry's crisis unit, Hamdollah Mohammadnejad, told IRNA on Tuesday that cyber-experts are still working on resolving issues connected with the cyber attack. He stressed that the ministry is fully operational and is producing and exporting oil.
He stated that some of the ministry’s servers were targeted by a virus on Monday, but that ultimately the virus was prevented from causing damage to the ministry's databases.
