BEIRUT - Israel has released a Lebanese man who returned home with the help of the International Red Cross, Lebanese sources reported on Wedenesday.
According Lebanon's National News Agency, the 48-year-old Ahmad Mohammed al-Mustafa was released on Wednesday. The man was reportedly captured in 2008 by Israeli troops in the border area of Wazzani and charged with smuggling drugs.
Israel accuses Hizbullah of spearheading efforts to smuggle drugs to Israel, a claim the group strongly denies.
The agency said the Red Cross took al-Mustafa from Israeli troops and brought him to Lebanon through a coastal border crossing, where he was handed to Lebanese authorities.
