Israel slams Turkey's 'show trial' of IDF commanders

Israel slammed Turkey on Tuesday for its "show trial" of four former IDF commanders, including former chief of staff Gabi Ashkenazi, for the 2010 killing of nine Turks on a Gaza-bound ship.

The trial will further test relations between the one-time strategic allies.

"This is not a trial but a show trial and has nothing to do with law and justice," Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor told AFP. "The so-called accused have not been notified or informed in any way that they are going to face charges or what the nature of the charges is. They haven't been given even a symbolic chance to have legal representation," he added.
