Israel, Spain sign agreement on cooperation in emergencies

Home Front Defense Minister Avi Dichter and the Interior Minister of Spain, Fernando Diaz, signed a cooperation agreement on Sunday evening between the two countries.
The agreement detailed calling for mutual assistance in times of emergency or massive national disasters. The pact is one in a series of such agreements with countries like Germany and the United States to strengthen the matter of international assistance as illustrated during the Carmel fire disaster and the Second Lebanon War.
Dichter said: "Israel should receive support on the same level that it provides it to other countries," adding that there will be unprecedented exercises in handling international aid.
For his part, Diaz said his delegation came to Israel as a message of the desire to "strengthen and formalize the relations between Spain and Israel."
