Israel to fund defense of doctor in al Durra case in Paris

Israel will fund the defense of Dr. David Yehuda who is being sued in France by Jamal al Durra, father of Muhammad al Durra who was killed in a cross fire between the IDF and Palestinian forces in September 2000.

A lawsuit has been filed against Yehuda for distorting facts regarding the incident at the start of the first Palestinian intifada (uprising).

Vice Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon and Minister of Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Yuli Edelstein notified Yehuda of the funding on Friday.

The court verdict is expected later Friday.
