Israel to head int'l standards c'tee on water reclamation

The Standards Institution of Israel has scored a significant achievement for the country: Israel will head a new International Organization for Standardization (ISO) committee to determine standards for water reclamation for irrigation, the institution announced Monday.
After proposing the committee and securing initial approval from the ISO secretariat, experts met in conference earlier this month and approved the request to create the new committee with Israel at its head. A purely formal approval is still needed, which is expected to be achieved without difficulty.
The Standards Institution proposed the new committee with the help of Israel NEWTech of the Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry which promotes Israeli water technologies.
ISO is the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards. Being granted the committee chairmanship came in recognition of Israel's leading role in the field.
