Israeli Arab jailed for spying on IDF chief

AnIsraeli Arab man was sentenced to five years and eight months in prisonby the Petach Tikva District Court on Tuesday for spying on IDF Chiefof General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi on behalf of Hizbullah.
Thepenalty also includes a three-year suspended sentence for Tira residentRawi Sultani, 23, who had no criminal or security record.
Sultani,who worked out at the same Kfar Saba gym as Ashkenazi, was found guiltyof giving Hizbullah information about the gym’s whereabouts and abreakdown of Ashkenazi’s security detail during his gym visits. Hissentence follows a plea bargain reached between prosecutors andSultani’s attorney and father Fouad Sultani.
