Israeli organization for Arab rights condemns Syria's Assad

Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel (Adalah) on Tuesday condemned Syrian President Bashar Assad's "brutal massacre" of protesters that has resulted in over 5,000 deaths.
In a press release, Adalah stated that Assad is in gross violation of international human rights law, specifically Article 7 of the Rome Statutes, Article 8 of the Treaty of Rome, and the Geneva Conventions. "The cruel treatment by the Assad regime of its citizens is a direct result of the lack of democracy and respect for human rights in the country," said the organization.
Adalah called for an independent investigation of the "massacre at Homs and of other violent incidents... based on international standards such as neutrality, accountability and transparency."
