Israelis call on int'l artists to boycott Eilat festival

A group of Israelis called "Supporting the Palestinian BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) Call From Within" this week issued an open letter to international musicians calling on them to withdraw their participation from the Eilat Chamber Music Festival.
Justifying the specific targeting of the Eilat festival, the letter cites its sponsorship by the Foreign Ministry and Bank Hapoalim. Furthermore, the letter notes that Palestinians are prevented by law from attending the festival.
In its appeal to the festival's participants to heed their boycott call, the group lists other international artists who have canceled scheduled performances in Israel. Among those listed are: Elvis Costello, Meg Ryan, Gil Scott-Heron, The Pixies and Tindersticks.
