J Street leaders to meet Peres, Abbas

The leaders of the leftist American lobby J Street will meet this week with President Shimon Peres, Strategic Affairs Minister Dan Meridor (Likud), Opposition leader Tzipi Livni (Kadima), Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas and PA prime minister Salam Fayyad.
The delegation of 25 board members and donors, led by J Street president Jeremy Ben-Ami, will also meet with IDF representatives, MKs from multiple parties, residents of Judea and Samaria, and civil society leaders in meetings in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Sderot, the Lebanese border, and Ramallah.
A spokeswoman for J Street denied a report in Israel Hayom that was based on a printed schedule for the trip that had indicated that meetings with Palestinian officials would take place on Yom Hashoah. She said the group participated in the official state ceremony Sunday at Yad Vashem Sunday night and that no meetings would take place until Yom Hashoah was over.
Israel Hayom stood by their report and said the schedule must have been changed due to public pressure following their report.
