Jewish group to Ireland: Boycott bid is hypocritical

The World Jewish Congress on Tuesday said it was disappointed with Ireland's decision to propose a European Union ban on products made in Jewish settlements in the West Bank. The Jewish group based in New York called the bid put forward by Irish Foreign Minister Eamon Gilmore "cynical and hypocritical."
"Gilmore is taking aim at the only liberal democracy in the Middle East while keeping quiet about those who really wreak havoc in the region: The Assads, Ahmadinejads and their allies Hezbollah and Hamas," said WJC President Ronald Lauder. "The West Bank territories are legally disputed and not illegally occupied."
Lauder also lashed out against South Africa and Denmark who recently announced they would provide different labels for products from the West Bank and Israel within the 1949 ceasefire lines.
