J'lem municipality freezes Holyland project for 100 days

The Jerusalem Planning and Construction Committee decided on Monday to impose a 100-day freeze on the Holyland project in the wake of the scandal that erupted as current and former Jerusalem Municipality officials were arrested on suspicion of accepting bribes in order to approve the project.

The committee decided to revoke excavation permits that were granted to developers of 13-15 land plots at the Holyland site. The decision was made in order to examine the existing permits and rethink building rights.

Planning and Construction Committee head Kobi Kahlon said during the discussion that “due to the singularity of the issue, the municipality stresses the importance of a thorough examination of the matter.”
