J'lem resident indicted for sexually abusing seven minors

A 46-year-old Jerusalem resident was indicted on Monday afternoon in the Jerusalem District Court for sexually abusing seven children between the ages of eight and 15.
The man, Yair Shir Menagem, began to abuse children as early as 1995 after offering to give "private lessons" or "medical treatments" to the children, who he met through the neighborhood or in his work as a driver.
He often preyed upon children that had issues at home and bad relationships with their parents.
The abuse was sustained and in some cases lasted for years. He was also diagnosed with hepatitis, and continued to abuse children.
The man was arrested over a month ago by Jerusalem police investigators, and is charged with multiple accounts of sodomy of minors, indecent assault of minors, and actions that could spread disease.
