Jordan denies arms smuggling from its territory into Syria

A Jordanian official denied on Saturday news reports that Jordan is facilitating the transport of arms dispatched by Saudi Arabia to the Free Syrian Army, according to The Jordan Times.
Reports have surfaced that arm smugglers are attempting to cross through Jordan to bring illicit arms into Syria from Saudi Arabia, with border patrols foiling some 10 smuggling attempts near Ramtha and the northern desert region weekly.
Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Rakan Majali labeled the reports baseless and claimed that Jordan's position of non-interference in Damascus' internal affairs is unchanged. Jordanian officials claim that they have consistently rejected any international military intervention in Syria.
