Jordan's Abdullah to visit Ramallah Thursday

Jordan's King Abdullah is scheduled to arrive in Ramallah Thursday - the first visit by an Arab head of state to the West Bank since the UN general Assembly voted in favor of upgrading the Palestinians' status to non-member observer state.
King Abdullah is coming to congratulate Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on the outcome of the UN vote, Egyptian envoy to Ramallah Awwad al-Sarhan announced.
Al-Sarhan said that the monarch's brief visit was also aimed at affirming Jordan's support for the PA's effort to achieve Palestinian rights through international forums.
King Abdullah will be accompanied by Jordanian prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and Riad Abu Karaki, head of the Royal Court.
