Justice minister calls for body to oversee state prosecutors

Justice Minister Yaakov Ne'aman called Monday for the formation of a body that would monitor state prosecutors.
The announcement came in the wake of a report released Monday which determined that negliegence was shown on the part of the prosecutors handling the Haim Ramon trial.
State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss on Sunday named two senior police officers and two top prosecutors as having been behind the failure to provide former justice minister Haim Ramon with transcripts of wiretapped conversations related to his indictment, and said the state ought to consider taking punitive measures against them.
