Kadima MK Dalia Itzik's mother passed away.

During her tenure as Knesset speaker, Dalia Itzik was asked to light a ceremonial torch on Yom Ha'atzmaut, which she dedicated to her mother.

At that time she said that her mother "symbolizes Israel because she came from Iraq without a shekel in her pocket and raised eight successful children on her own."

The veteran Kadima MK announced earlier this month that she would not run in the upcoming elections for the 19th Knesset.
