Keshev C'tee: Raise number of Arabs in national service

The Keshev Committee, tasked with integrating haredim and Israeli Arabs in army or civilian service announced Thursday that it had decided to recommend the principle of "everyone serves," by which all citizens not conscripted to serve in the IDF will serve in national service.

The committee proposed a plan by which the number of Arabs enlisting in national service will gradually grow to 6,000 by 2016.

The committee also said it would recommend that a special team continue to suggest ways to implement "service for all," to finish its work by December 2012.
