Khamenei: Iran never has, never will bow to pressure

Iran has never bowed to pressure and never will, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Wednesday, asserting that "this is the cause of enemy's fury," Iranian Press TV website reported.

“The thought that the cause of the arrogant front’s enmity towards Iran is adopting certain stances or making certain decisions is wrong,” Press TV quoted Khamenei as saying during a meeting with gifted youth in Tehran.

“The cause of all these pressures is the Iranian nation’s independent position and not bowing to the hegemonic system,” Ayatollah Khamenei added, according to Press TV.

The supreme leader's comments came as Iranian riot police clashed with demonstrators and foreign exchange dealers in the capital over the collapse of the country's currency, which has lost a third of its value against the dollar in a week, witnesses said.
