Knesset bill to fine Israel boycott supporters

A bill whose powerful sponsors hope will mitigate the economic impact of the Palestinian boycott of settlement products was filed with the Knesset Wednesday.
Seven faction heads, including Kadima Faction Chairwoman Dalia Itzik and Coalition Chair Zeév Elkin (Likud), were among the sponsors of the bill which includes potential fines for Israeli citizens and organizations as well as foreign bodies who initiate, support or endorse any boycott of Israeli products.
The bill submitted Wednesday would allow the courts to penalize those found guilty of aiding or abetting such a boycott with fines of up to NIS 30,000  to be place in a compensation fund for anyone who can prove that they suffered losses due to the boycott.
