Knesset to meet during recess to discuss economy

The Knesset will convene for an emergency meeting during the long summer recess on Wednesday.
Kadima faction chairwoman Dalia Itzik gathered the requisite 25 signatures from opposition members last week to call the meeting, in which her party will present two motions to the agenda: One on "the declining economic situation of the State of Israel under [Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's] government," and another on "the Netanyahu government is harming equality in the burden of service."
“Netanyahu’s false conceptions are now crashing, and the people paying the price are the lower class and the weaker sectors,” Itzik said. “The Knesset must convene immediately to give the government a red card,” like those used to kick a player out of a soccer game.
Meretz, UAL-Ta'al, Hadas and Balad plan to discuss an increase in unemployment and rising prices and VAT.
