Labor candidate Margalit: Mitzna idea undemocratic

Venture capitalist Erel Margalit lashed out at his fellow Labor leadership candidate Amram Mitzna on Saturday for proposing that the party chairman should be allowed to reserve several slots on the party's Knesset slate for his favored candidates.

Margalit said the idea was undemocratic. "For Labor to recover, it must bring in new members and return home members who have left," Margalit wrote Mitzna.

"But they must be elected based on their intelligence and good judgment. Ways can be found to ensure that new forces will join the list via the current system of primaries among the party's members."

Mitzna declined to respond to the letter.
