Labor Court extends deadline for deal to end strike

At 3 p.m. Thursday, National Labor Court President Judge Nili Arad agreed to give the Treasury and the Histadrut until 6 p.m. to submit a further joint report of their progress, and asked them to also notify the court of their position regarding the Treasury's request to stop the strike.
Arad's decision came after the Treasury and the Histadrut sent a joint message on Thursday afternoon announcing that they formulated a document setting out common principles, that their legal teams are within hours of putting together a final version of the document.
In addition, the Histadrut announced to the court that it has signed a general collective agreement with the Manufacturers Association of Israel regarding the main issues of the dispute.
Arad said that if the parties cannot reach an agreement, she will convene a meeting with the Treasury, Histadrut and the Manufacturer's Association at 7 p.m. before deciding whether to issue an injunction to prevent continued striking.
