Labor: Yair Lapid was never invited to join the party

The Labor Party released a statement Friday saying that Yair Lapid had never been asked to join the party.
The statement came as a response to comments made by Lapid on Facebook Thursday night that he would not join the Labor Party. The reasons he gave were that its leader, Shelly Yacimovich, belongs to the radical left-wing of the Israeli political spectrum both socially and economically.
The Labor statement added that the coming elections will be decided on ideology, and that Labor is the only party that is offering a social-democratic alternative to the "radical capitalism" of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
