Landau approves biogas, solar thermal installations

Following the government's decision last Sunday to increase renewable energy allocations nationwide, the National Infrastructures Ministry approved yesterday 160 megawatts worth of biogas facilities and 200 megawatts of solar thermal installations – chunks of the 210-megawatt for biofuels and 460-megawatt for large solar fields allowances respectively, the ministry announced on Tuesday morning.
"This is a first and important step in releasing part of the renewable energy sector that suffered from paralysis in recent months," National Infrastructures Minister Dr. Uzi Landau said in a statement. "Nonetheless, it is necessary to executive the government decision and policies as written and immediately fulfill the resolutions that remain such as large solar fields and wind."
