'Le Monde': Toulouse terrorist Merah did not act alone

Toulouse terrorist Mohamed Merah who murdered four people outside a Jewish school in March, did not act alone, French newspaper Le Monde reported Thursday.

Le Monde reported that confidential documents it had obtained, including a list of phone calls Merah had made, pointed to a network of contacts that Merah had built around the world. These documents together with other confidential papers that Le Monde obtained, supported the belief that Merah did not act alone.

Between September 2010 and the end of February 2011, Merah made several trips to countries in the Middle East and Afghanistan, according to the French paper. The document shows that during this time Merah made 186 phone calls to correspondents in 20 different foreign countries.

Merah killed Rabbi Yonatan Sandler, his two children and the daughter of the school’s principal in the attack outside the Ozar Hatorah Jewish school. The French gunman jumped to his death after police stormed his apartment two days after the attack.
