Lebanon's top Christian religious leader resigns

Lebanon's state-run National News Agency says the country's top Christian religious leader has resigned and is waiting for the Vatican to approve his walkout.
The NNA reported Sunday that Cardinal Nasrallah Sfeir resigned several months ago. No reason was given for the resignation.
Some Christian politicians have criticized the 90-year-old Sfeir in recent years, saying he is too supportive of Lebanon's Western-backed political coalition. Christians make up about 40 percent of Lebanon's 4 million people.
