Libyan envoy urges international intervention

UNITED NATIONS— Libya's deputy UN ambassador is urging the international community to intervene and demand that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi stop the killing of government opponents.
Ibrahim Dabbashi said thousands of Gaddafi's opponents are heading to the main square in Tripoli and he predicted "thousands" will be killed.
But he told reporters at Libya's UN Mission that "the dictator regime in Tripoli is in his last moments" and the opposition will prevail.
He urged all Libyan diplomats at home and abroad to stop obeying government instructions and support the opposition or go home.
Dabbashi said he represented "everyone in the mission" including the ambassador.
