Lieberman calls on EU to condemn J'lem mufti over remarks

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman called on the European Union to condemn the Jerusalem mufti for his recitation of an Islamic Hadith that called the "killing of Jews" a "sacred goal," Israel Radio reported Thursday.
Lieberman met with EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton Wednesday as the baroness continued her visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories just before a Quartet deadline that calls for tangible progress in the peace process.
The foreign minister told Ashton that Israel welcomes fresh EU sanctions against Iranian crude and the central bank, saying these sanctions would make an impact, according to Army Radio.
