State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss denied on Wednesday media reports speculating that he planned to run for the office of president.
Speaking at a meeting of the Institute of Internal Auditors in Tel Aviv, Lindenstrauss noted that there were no basis to reports that he planned to stand as a candidate for president, and said he had no such plans.
The current president, Shimon Peres, was elected for a seven-year term on June 13th, 2007. Presidents are elected by an absolute majority by Knesset, and cannot be re-elected for a second term.
Lindenstrauss, a retired District Court judge, became State Comptroller in 2005.
