Livni: I wanted to meet Abbas before new Fatah-Hamas gov't

Opposition leader Tzipi Livni explained Thursday that her meeting in Amman with PA President Mahmoud Abbas was held to clarify the nature of a potential new Palestinian unity government.
"I wanted to check if there was a possibility for negotiations. I wanted to make sure, just before the formation of a new Palestinian government, that they will commit to the Quartet conditions," Livni said in an interview with Army Radio.
Livni also voiced her opinion on the current lack of negotiations, saying that "there is currently a standstill, and that is not helping Israel. In fact, it is hurting it. We must renew our bond with the pragmatic elements in the region, and I will work towards that goal as much as I can."
