Livni insists she's not hoping government fails

Opposition leader Tzipi Livni insisted Friday that she wasn't waiting in hope for the government to fail. Speaking at a pre-Rosh Hashana gathering of Kadima activists in Petah Tikva, Livni wished for the people of Israel to have a year of reckoning in which the country's final borders are set and a deal struck to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The opposition leader said that the "election victory" could never be taken away from Kadima, and that she believed the party would win the next election. Kadima won 29 seats to Likud's 27 in the last general election, but Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu was entrusted with forming the government since he had the largest bloc of MKs behind him.
