Opposition leader Tzipi Livni met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Amman Wednesday. Livni urged Abbas to return to negotiations with Israel before forming a unity government with Hamas, "before it is too late," according to a statement from a Kadima spokesman.
During the meeting, in which Kadima MKs Roni Bar-On, Haim Ramon and former MK Tzahi Hanegbi also participated, Livni told the PA president that only negotiations and – not unilateral steps – will bring peace. She noted that she opposes unilateral steps taken by the PA.
Addressing a unity deal recently reached between Abbas's Fatah party and rival Hamas, Livni told the PA president: "Don't let Hamas impose its agenda (on you) by forming a joint government with it."
