Man arrested for suspicious activity at Peres residence

Guards at President Shimon Peres' residence in Jerusalem took a man into custody on Sunday night due to suspicious activity.

Around 6:30, three Arabs approached the residence, in the David's Village complex near Jaffa Gate, in what the guards described as a "threatening" manner, according to the President's spokeswoman Ayelet Frisch.

Guards asked the men to identify themselves, and one of the men started arguing with the guards. He was taken into custody and brought to the police station for questioning, while the other two men fled the scene.

According to Frisch, the man taken into custody has a criminal past, including attempted murder. Jerusalem Police spokesman Shmuel Ben Ruby said police were investigating the incident.
