Medvedev spokeswoman: Russia called to mediate in Libya

DEAUVILLE, France - The Group of Eight has called on Russia to mediate in the Libyan crisis, President Dmitry Medvedev's spokeswoman said on Thursday.
Briefing reporters during the G8 summit in the northern French seaside town of Deauville, she did not say whether Russia had responded to the request.
The spokeswoman also said Medvedev had criticized what he called "euro-centrism" within the International Monetary Fund, which is in the process of selecting a new head. He also wanted to see more weight for emerging market nations at the Fund.
