The Education Ministry on Tuesday released the results of the Meitzav exams, which are used to measure growth and efficiency in the country's schools, and which showed a widening gap between Jewish and Arab pupils. The exam, which is given to fifth and eighth graders once every two years, tests the pupils' knowledge of math, science, Hebrew or Arabic, and English. The results showed a decline in Arab students' scores for English and Science, while Jewish students showed an improvement in all areas except for English, in which they remained similar to the scores from 2007.
