Mekorot threatens to cut water to moshavim over debt

The Mekorot water company has warned it will disrupt distribution to more than seventy moshavim and agricultural fields in the south due to water unpaid debts of up to NIS 30 million, Israel Radio reported Sunday.
The company has said in the last two weeks that it will cut water supplies if the debts remain unpaid. The relevant moshavim and irrigation fields have refused to pay because they claim Mekorot has raised water prices to exorbitant rates.
Mekorot responded, saying that the prices are legal according to the level set by the state Water Authority.
