Sasi Shilo, chairman of the company’s directorate, said Thursday that stamps are part of the Israeli experience. "Such a stamp can be designed in a special way to signify the flowering and growth of the Jewish people together with the sadness and pain over those who are no longer with us."The late songwriter Naomi Shemer composed the words and melody of the Hebrew song for the fallen. The NIS 1.70 stamp and envelope were designed by Osnat Eshel for the occasion. Every year since 1952, a stamp to mark Memorial Day has been issued by the Philatelic Services.
