Miliband bids for UK Labour leadership

LONDON— Former Foreign Minister David Miliband announced on Wednesday his bid for the leadership of Britain's opposition Labour Party.
Gordon Brown's resignation as party leader leaves the field open for successors, including Miliband, who has long been seen as the front-runner for the job. He recently earned the backing of another early favorite, former Home Secretary Alan Johnson.
But Miliband may still face competition from a range of other Labour figures, not least his younger brother Ed Miliband, the former energy and climate change minister.
