Military prosecutor opens investigation of senior officers

A military investigation has been opened against a former commander of the Kfir Brigade, Col. Ittai Virov and a former Shimshon Brigade commander, Lt. Col. (res.) Shimon Hirsch. the chief military prosecutor, Avihai Mandelblatt, informed the High Court on Sunday.

The investigation was opened after the testimony of the two officers during the trial of First Lt. Adam Malul for violent behavior against Palestinian civilians.

The two were relieved of command as result of the trial where they stated during the trial that when conducting impromptu searches of Palestinian civilians choke-holds, knee-capping and other "limited" violent behavior was permitted in the units under their command.
