Ministry advances plans for new W. Bank city

Settler dreams of building the fifth West Bank Jewish city moved on step closer to reality Wednesday, when the Defense Ministry authorized plans to build 523 new homes in Gevaot, a plot of land in the Gush Etzion region.
Security sources cautioned that an additional signature was needed before building could begin.
They noted that plans for Gevaot had long been in the works, and that their advancement had nothing to do with building projects over the pre-1967 lines, which had been announced in the past weeks as part of Israel’s diplomatic battle with the Palestinians.
