MK Braverman drops out of race for Labor leadership

Labor MK Avishay Braverman on Thursday said that he was removing himself as a candidate to lead the faction in the September 7 primary election.
Braverman did not immediately give a reason for his decision to step out of the Labor race but was scheduled to speak at a  press conference on Thursday evening.
The decision by Braverman came following an announcement from Labor MK Shelly Yacimovich earlier this week that she was entering the Labor Party’s leadership race.
Yacimovich joined MK Isaac Herzog as a candidate for the primary. MK Amir Peretz and Union of Local Authorities in Israel chairman Shlomo Buhbut are expected to join the race soon.
